Question: How do I make a widget? Answer: Log in. Go to your tools section by either clicking on the tool link in the tool bar at the top of the page or in the menu below the greeting. On the tools page you will see a clickable graphic for the Personal TRUpreps Widget. Click the graphic and it will take you to the page where you will begin making the widget by first clicking "Create a new widget!" Pick the sport. Then pick the three stats you would like to appear on the widget. Type in a reference name and click "Create Widget." Copy the code from the box and place in the section you deem fitting on any social network page.
Question: Making multiple widgets for different sports? Answer: As long as you have multiple teams attached to your TRUpreps profile you can make multiple widgets. Where we hold you back is making multiple widgets for the same sport. You can make a widget for basketball, football, and baseball, but you can only make one for each of them to highlight one particular season at a time. Follow the above instructions on how to make a widget for all the widgets you wish to make.
Question: How can we make our profiles look better? Answer: At this time there are no tools to dress up your profile to a look similar to your Myspace page. TRUpreps profiles are professional and set up to highlight your athletic skills. The more content on the page the better the profile looks.
Question: How do I get my MaxPreps stats on my page? Answer: This is a very important step. During the initial setup process you select your team or teams after you choose your school. Once you select a team be sure to select yourself from the roster. This will ensure that your trusted stats from MaxPreps will be displayed on your TRUpreps profile. Repeat the steps for each Varsity team.
If you forget to add a team, or a new season starts and you need to add another team click on "Teams" in the Account Tools menu or "Add/Edit Teams" under the Welcome message.
Once you enter this section you can either "Add New Team" or edit "Existing Teams." Under "Add New Team" follow the steps to select a team and then select yourself off of the roster. Again, this will ensure that your trusted stats from MaxPreps will be displayed on your TRUpreps profile
The last part of the adding a team is updating your info. Answer the questions, make sure your numbers match up and click "Save Changes" to finish.
Question: How do I correct my stats that are on my profile? Answer: MaxPreps or TRUpreps does not enter or correct stats. Coaches are given usernames and passwords to go online and enter and correct stats themselves. Please contact your coach to correct the error. We apologize for the inconvenience. This validates that the stats are coming from a credible source and are not tampered with by outside sources.
Question: How do I change the info on my profile (sport info and personal info)? Answer: Log in to your "Edit Home" page. From there click the link in Account Tools under the search bar that says "The Person." Or click "The Person: Q &A" under the Welcome message. From there you can update and edit your personal information.
To edit your sports info either click on the "Teams" link in the Account Tools or "Add / Edit Teams" under the Welcome message. On the right side of the page you will see your existing team. Under your player info click the "Edit Player Info" link. Update and edit the general info and then click "Save Changes."
Question: How do I show both schools stats I went to if I transferred? Answer: Currently, you are only able to have one school's stats carried over to your profile. You can always switch schools by going to "My Account" on your "Edit Home" page and changing your school to the one you are now attending. If you had a really good year at another school then add your stats into the game logs on your page. It won't look as legit, but recruiters will still be able to see them.
Question: How do I add people? Answer: While searching TRUpreps you will see an "ADD" button under an athlete's name. Click this button to send an add request to that athlete as your friend or teammate.
The other way to add a friend or teammate is by going to your "Edit Home" page and clicking on "Network." Here you will see who is already in your network as well as links that will guide you to adding teammates and friends. Clicking the add teammates link will bring up all the athletes from your school in the database. Feel free to invite all of them to be apart of TRUpreps. If you click "Add a Friend" then you search our database by using the search application supplied on that page. Again, if you don't find who it is you are looking for then please invite them.
Question: How do you upload a picture? Answer: Log in to your "Edit Home" page; under Account Tools click on "Photos." On the left side of the page you have the option to "Add image from MaxPreps galleries" which will allow you to search through your teams MaxPreps galleries and select photos you would like to add to your profile. On the right side you will see an option to "Upload Image." Here you can go through your personal files on your computer and find just the right photo for your TRUpreps profile. Click "Browse" find the photo on your computer, click open, add a caption, and upload the file.
You can get to this same photo page by clicking on "Add Photos" in the menu under the greeting on your "Edit Home."
Question: How do I get photographers to my game so I have photos in MaxPreps to choose from? Answer: Email MaxPreps' Director of Photography at tshurtleff@maxpreps.com. He will try his best to get one of the 500 nationwide photographers to get to your game.
Question: How do I resize my photo so it is less than 500kb? Answer: If you have some sort of editing software like Adobe Photoshop you can open up the file and resize using this software. If not, you can use online photo storage sites like www.photobucket.com to upload your photos and then once they are in your gallery you may resize them and save back to your desktop for uploading to your TRUpreps profile. Lastly, there are free sites that let you resize your photos. Some examples include: www.picasa.google.com, www.picresize.com, or www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer. There are many more that can easily be found by searching for free picture resizer or free image resizer.
Question: What is the maximum size of the file? Answer: 500 KB
Question: What file types are accepted? Answer: JPEG or JPG only
Question: How can my family or I purchase the pictures from MaxPreps? Answer: Two ways:
1. Inside TRUpreps click on "Tools" then click on "Purchase Professional High School Sports Photos."
2. From MaxPreps search for your team's page. Find "School Galleries." If a MaxPreps' photographer has attended one of your games then you will the gallery of images posted there.
Question: How do I upload my video? Answer: Once you are logged in to your profile click on either "Add Video" in the menu under the welcome box, or click on "Videos" in the Account Tools. From there, click on "Upload New Video." Click the "browse" button and select the video you wish to upload from your computer where it is saved. Only WMV, MPEG2, MPEG4, MOV, AVI and FLV video files that are 50 MB or less will be accepted. Clips should be no longer than 30 seconds. If your video file does not meet these requirements then please do not continue.

Question: How do I edit the highlights to make them small enough to upload? Answer: One way you can almost guarantee your highlight clip will be small enough to upload is by turning them into a flash file. Macromedia has a free trial period (when you become a member) that you may sign up for a flash video encoder where you take your file, place into the queue, and convert the file to a much smaller file size that will be easily uploaded to your TRUpreps profile. Visit Riva - www.rivavx.com/?encoder or go to www.newfreedownloads.com/find/flash-video-encoder.html to see a few free trials that can assist you with resizing.
Or take your highlight reel and cut it up into a bunch of smaller highlights clips (30 seconds would be ideal) in your video editor software (i.e.: Roxio Easy Media Creator, Adobe Premier, Ulead Video Studio, Pinnacle's Studio, or Apple's Final Cut).
Question: How do I edit my video footage? Answer: For the best quality you need a video editing software program like Pinnacle's Studio or Apple's Final Cut. Below are some free programs you can try:
Question: Why is there no sound on the video clips that we upload? Answer: This usually happens when you take the clips directly from an HD camera. For some reason when you take the files from a hard disk camera it only pulls the video portion of the file. Take the clip you want and put it into an editing program and create a movie. Make sure when you create the movie your file is a WMV, MPEG2, MPEG4, MOV, AVI and/or FLV video file and is 50 MB or less. Doing this will compress the audio and video files into one, making it so your highlight has both.
